Data Privacy Day began in the United States and Canada in January 2008 as an extension of the Data Protection Day celebration in Europe. Data Protection Day commemorates the Jan. 28, 1981, signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection. Data Privacy Day is observed annually on Jan. 28.
This year, the increasingly global leadership of the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) has become the official champion of this campaign. The Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation, an voluntary organization working on cyber-awareness in Bangladesh has been running.

The organization is committed to the day by signing the 'Data Privacy Day champion'.

Through this, the wide-ranging organization sharing shared responsibility for the protection of personal information - as a champion, the Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation has acknowledged the principle and supported it.
